What is "Cloud technology" Web 2.0? Web applications?
Can someone clarify what cloud technology is? My understanding of it from reading articles is that it’s pretty much…….Web 2.0, which is pretty much web applications. If this is not 100% correct, what are the differences?
Cloud computing is Internet- ("cloud-") based development and use of computer technology ("computing"). In concept, it is a paradigm shift whereby details are abstracted from the users who no longer need[says who?] knowledge of, expertise in, or control over[dubious – discuss] the technology infrastructure "in the cloud" that supports them[clarification needed]. Cloud computing describes a new supplement, consumption and delivery model for IT services based on Internet, and it typically involves the provision of dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources as a service over the Internet.
The term cloud is used as a metaphor for the Internet, based on the cloud drawing used to depict the Internet in computer network diagrams as an abstraction of the underlying infrastructure it represents. Typical cloud computing providers deliver common business applications online which are accessed from a web browser, while the software and data are stored on servers.
These applications are broadly divided into the following categories: Software as a Service (SaaS), Utility Computing, Web Services, Platform as a Service (PaaS), Managed Service Providers (MSP), Service Commerce, and Internet Integration.

well at one time people turned on their computers and use programs that were running on those very computers
now it’s more like you just hop on the web right away and pretty much everything you do is on some web site (like yahoo answers for example)
and very little attention is paid to all those lonely programs sitting on your hard drive desperately wanting attention
well cloud tech takes that a step further were your email is stored off your computer, your documents are saved on some server somewhere, your mp3′s porn, whatever is all handled by some server (or group of servers) away from your computer
the advantages are
a) you can get at your stuff from virtually anywhere
b) it makes it easier to work on projects in large groups because every member of the group can potentially have access to the same files you’re working on
the disadvantages range from a) greedy corporations can do marketing analysis on your stuff …to…
b) you can’t access your stuff when you’re net connection breaks and your computer basically turns into a paperweight (or a door stop)

No cloud technology isn’t Web 2.
Web 2.0 is commonly associated with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, like hosted services, web applications, social-networking sites, video-sharing sites, wikis, blogs, mashups, and folksonomies. A Web 2.0 site allows its users to interact with other users or to change website content, in contrast to non-interactive websites where users are limited to the passive viewing of information that is provided to them.
Using the cloud or cloud technology (cloud computing) is using the web based services like Amazon AWS to store all your data online, but not in the traditional sense. Cloud computing describes a new supplement, consumption and delivery model for IT services based on Internet, and it typically involves the provision of dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources as a service over the Internet. So a user with a browser will access all files and programs from the Cloud, which are servers based online.
